Healthcode was established in 2000 and is the UK’s official medical bill clearing company for private healthcare. Since 2001 we have delivered encrypted online systems to healthcare professionals and businesses and process medical invoices for virtually every privately insured patient in the UK. In 2019 we processed 7 million invoices amounting to more than £3.3bn.
Today, we provide an extensive range of specialised IT solutions and systems for the private healthcare market, including practice management systems, online billing, secure messaging and clinical coding tools, which:
• help streamline administrative processes
• connect healthcare organisations
• enhance efficiencies, reduce unnecessary duplication and decrease costs
Healthcode’s ePractice solution is a practice management system that helps you to run your practice efficiently, saving you time and money and reducing administrative tasks. Our role as the market clearing organisation means we are central to any changes in direction for billing related practices and policies within the industry, defining and developing the standards from both a technical and coding point of view. Innovative features include receipt of electronic remittances and real-time membership look-up for the major insurers and invoice auto-population, pulling patient details including demographic, GP, episode and diagnosis information from invoices created by the hospital where you saw the patient. You can either match to a patient already in your database or create a new patient record.
Healthcode has also developed The Private Practice Register (The PPR), a solution that unites the private healthcare market. It is a sector-wide directory and register of practitioners offering services, creating a central reference point and information source. This avoids duplication of effort by the practitioners as they only need to update information in one secure place, which can only be accessed by the Private Medical Insurers and Hospital Providers they have an association with. The PPR provides hospitals with an oversight of their practitioner population and improves visibility and transparency across the sector and/or group. A key objective is to ensure The PPR becomes recognised as the definitive primary source of practitioner data to enable organisations to meet their due diligence and improve Governance and quality assurance.
